Ha hahahah. Joe, I still got black hair. It just ain't on my head. And I can still remember wiping foot prints off the car windows. Yep, I still got it... what's left of it. But then, I had my turn. It's somebody else turn now. Baby and I still go to a drive-in movie occasionally. We have one about 20 miles from us. It's nothing like the old days though. I remember entering the gates while I was riding and hiding in the trunk. My first date with Baby was to the old (even then) #1 Drive In. Neither of us remembers the movie playing that night. We double dated with my friend Tony. Tony and I have been friends for 43 years now. Probably because if we revealed what we know about each other, we would both be in jail. That's what it's all about here. Sitting in a comfortable chair and enjoying the music and the memories it stirs within us. And then, the music stops, and we are old again. But what the heck! It's all good. I can't help but believe that through the happiness and sadness we've all known, that we have developed character and strength that the young do not know. I don't believe it's all been for nothing, but rather a preparation for what comes next. The older I get the more often I think I hear a voice somewhere off in the distance calling my name. I think it's getting close to time to go home. You all know what I mean. God bless all you grouchy old men... oh, and you ladies as well. I don't want the ladies mad at me. You know how tough that is on a fellow. |
