Subject: RE: Oldies Music & Old Time Radio

Message Detail:
Joe, I for one, enjoy OTR programs as they bring back memories of being young. When I growing up, we did not have a television, and we had only one radio. From a very early age I use to sing (and even dance) to the music. In the evenings I remember listening to the radio dramas.

One of my favorites was Gunsmoke and I also remember hearing the Lone Ranger on radio.

I find myself more and more these days tuning in NPR stations. The content and depth of public radio is so much better than the commercial station offerings these days. And, before you ask, yes, I like some classical music. I played violin in the high school orchestra. Actually I played 2nd violin. I was never good enough for the first seat.

I also remember our first television. Dad bought it used I think in 1956. I remember him tuning the stations and always turning the "rabbit ears" antenna. It was a huge set in a wooden cabinet but it had a real small screen. Dad never bought another set. That one worked until his death in 1971.

Isn't it strange what a simple question can start you thinking about.
