To all contacts in the United States: I wanted to send a line to you all individually but the contacts book is quite thick!.. so hope you don't mind if I send the same message to you all. Just a line to say that we are also remembering the date of 9/11. On behalf of the majority of British people, despite what you may read elsewhere, I say a personal thank-you for being there and again I repeat the American mantra: "Gee buddy it's good to have you a friend." I was on the air the afternoon of that dreadful day and was relaying the information to our audience in parts of four counties which includes three US air-bases. It is a time I certainly won't forget and for those of you in New York you have proved that a city and indeed a nation as strong as yours can bounce back. I have visited the US a total of 10 times in the last 35 years, mostly in the 90s and 2003 and it has shown me only kindness and opportunity. That it was I call a true friend.
