The above song was brought to my attendtion yesterday by a friend. She, and some other Rydell fans, seemed to bu in a snit because they feel Charlie McGettigan and Paul Harrington should be "in the know" where the Golden Boys are concerned. They're missing the whole point of the song, because they're fixated on the line "Whatever happened to Bobby Rydell, Fabian, Frankie Avalon as well." The song is NOT about the Golden Boys; it's about the old songs that we grew up listening to and loving not being played much anymore. Sure, there are oldies stations out there, but as we all know, they're "programmed," and only play the songs that were hits. As my friend, Jerry Blavat, says, "They play from a chart and not from the heart." Jerry has a stipulations is that he can play what HE wants, not what management wants. If this isn't agreed upon, he's taken his business elsewhere. The same goes for Ultimate Oldies Radio; you'll hear the hits, but you'll also hear songs that didn't make the Top 40, but were a part of your growing up years. Thank God for people like Jerry and Bob; THEY'RE the ones who REALLY keep the oldies alive! I hope this link works. If not, and you'd like to hear the song, go to www.rydellfanclub.com; there's a link on the left-hand side of the page. "Whatever happened to Bobby Rydell" Hugs, Nanci |
