Subject: Why Oldies Stations are few

Message Detail:
As Bob knows, I've been trying to get my CD oldies collection aired at one of the local radio stations. When no one was interested, or even responded, I tried to BUY air time! That's right, I'd PAY to have a radio station play what they should be playing! Still, no one was interested.

Why is this occurring? Well, here's the way I see it. So few even enjoy older (vintage) songs anymore. I hang out in various oldies forums, but you seldom see anyone talking about the songs of the past. That proves not too many people enjoy talking about songs. Look at this very forum. Not me, I love talking about songs, especially those I've forgotten about!

Even one DJ at a small Oldies station claims many stations are dropping Oldies, especially starting with the obscure songs and regional hits.

Currently, most Oldies stations, other than the very small neighborhood ones, are focusing on '70's songs, with less '60's songs, and forget about the '50's.

This is real sad. Some great songs and artists, more so then, than today! I thought I'd never see this in my lifetime! It's like things changed overnight!

College radio stations plague the airwaves, adding even more chaos and confusion with "variety".

Oh, well, thanks for reading.

John
