Although Hank was a member of the Tokens from their inception, he did not sing lead vocals. Jay Siegel was the lead singer on the Tokens hits, and still leads one version of the group today. The Margo brothers, the other two original members, lead an offshoot Tokens group today. Tokens trivia time: Dawn was the name of one of Jay's daughters. Tony Orlando did not want his name on the first of Dawn's recordings, so Jay named the "group" after his daughter. The group Dawn on Candida was actually Tony, Jay, and two female session singers, not the same ladies who sang on later Tony Orlando and Dawn hit records. Hank was also involved in producing them, as well as some of the other big groups at that time. In fact, the Tokens lauched their own record label, BT Puppy Records. Unlike so many artists of the 50's and 60's, even though the hits stopped coming, they were all successful in the music industry. It is always sad to hear about the passing of these people.
