I first played 'Is It True' on WITH in Baltimore in 1996 on my Saturday request show. Brenda Lee was BIG in that city, yet the song never got a lot of airplay when it was out in '64 and thus never really resonated with Baltimoreans.

Buddy Deane knew Brenda personally, had her on his show for at least 6 'live' appearances, and even he didn't know the tune.

The song is very 'un-Brenda' like. Her deal was ballads and a few medium to up tempo hits...but how novel it was to hear Brenda perform...as was stated earlier in this thread...a very 'British Invasion' like song.

I have a Brenda Lee interview that maybe I will put on the site sometime in the future.
