Subject: TRIVIA - The Exciters

On their 1962 hit song, "Tell Him", lead singer, Brenda Reid, had flubbed the lyrics during recording. Rather than rerecord the entire song, Take #7, portions were edited and the song was published. When the song was later mixed to Stereo, the bum lyrics were left in! Whoops! This version was slightly slower than the 45 RPM single, and appears to be the most popular. However, in 1991, Capitol Records decided to remaster a new Stereo version with the correct lyrics and original speed.

Brenda Reid and Herb Rooney (another Exciters member) married. In the '80's they parted. One of their sons, Mark Reid, became a famous producer, while another, Antonio Reid, eventually became CEO of Arista Records!
