We've for years enjoyed the traditions of the annual Easter Weekend. What really is the special significance of 'Good Friday' to 'Resurrection Sunday'?

Well, it was for the sins of all mankind that Christ died on Friday, was buried the same day, and rose again on the first day of the week. He would be seen in the flesh by more than 500 people over 40 days. Even Thomas 'doubted' no more when he saw the nail scarred hands and was invited to thrust his hand in the Lord's spear-pierced side and see that He was real and not a ghost.

Jesus' life on earth fulfilled more than 400 prophecies written about His coming hundreds of years before by the prophets of old. Truly, Jesus is God, the Son of God who became a man. He who was never convicted of sin, nevertheless willingly paid for ours.

Speaking of the Old Testament, it was at the end of 400 years of Egyptian captivity, that God 'passed over' the Jewish families who faithfully followed His instructions in striking the door posts of their homes with lamb's blood when the 'angel of death' arrived, and through that mysterious night...delivered His children out of bondage. Many miracles have ensued through the years on their behalf, and to this day God has not and will never forget His promise to the nation of Israel.

In both cases, it was the shedding of blood for forgiveness of sin that made it possible to escape both its captivity on earth, and ultimately deliverance for all eternity.

Jesus said, 'He who comes unto Me, I will in NO wise cast out'.
