Eric,

Great Heads Up! You've done it again! You've cyber scout'd a very nice set of views showing a US Veteran Signal Corps medal (front and back and another view with back cover removed shownng what appears to be the porcelain centre insert.

You'll notice that although the ribbon appears to be orange in this image, the colour is actually yellow and not orange. It seems that the wartime US signal corps was using yellow. The pre-war dragoons used orange trim which the signal corps picked up after the War. For additional reading please see: "Signal Corps Orange" by Paul J. Scheips, Military Affairs, Volume XXI, No. 3, Fall 1957, pp. 138-140.
