The illustrations on this e-bay adv. is on the money Sir. I have read a copy of J.E. O'Brien's telegraph book (see SCA Bibliography page through link below) and these exceptional lithos are in it too.

I especially like the mule with the field expedient reel on his pack saddle. This image is, now that I remember seeing it, a bit different from the cross-tree'd example I posted on this forum. The cross tree will, however, serve to transport signal stores within a pair of panniers (pronounced pan-yeahs).
