Subject: Gen. McClellan Notified re: Lee Entering MD

Message Detail:
Dear Signal Corps Association Net Staff Person: New today to contacting you, first, Congratulations fora marvelously detailed and so necessary Web site! I hope I may ask a multi-part question as follows. Developing a communications' history book, I find that the discovery of Lee's Special Order 191 is often said to have brought Gen.McClellan into pursuit. But didn't Lieutenant Miner(at Sugar Loaf/Point of Rocks) actually first see Lee's advanced guard on 9/3/1862? Believing the latter to be correct, what was the Corps' tower linkage through MD to McClellan's hdq.? Or was the nearest B&O station's telegraph applied? Thank You for considering my inquiry! Cordially, Fred B. Wrixon
