Hello, I am a first time poster here. My name is Brian Burtka, and I have been interested in Civil War Signals for about two years. I have participated with the Signal Corps of the James at two events in the past few years, and I have been reenacting for 7 years. I am posting with a note of sadness; I came to know Bill Hock through my interest in CW Signals, and I am here to post his obituary, which I have linked. He was active with the 1st IL Brigade, and was the Captain of their Signal Corps group in the Chicago area for a number of years. He frequently talked of this forum and how he was active on it, and kept up with it, and how many people on here were his friends. He passed away back in October. He was a good friend and an amazing guy. I thought that some people would want to know about him passing. Sincerely, |
