Subject: Q2:

Message Detail:
Hi, I am researching the Union stockade built at Peach Grove (current Tysons Corner). A signal tower was built on Gantt's Hill as part of the early warning line of Washington Defenses. The stockade was built in early 1863 and supported cavalry excursions along the major road networks. A current government communications tower now sits on that site. Q1: I would like to know what signal detachment occupied that site during the Civil War and if any records still exist of their occupation? Q2: Does it occupy the same site as the old signal tower?
