Subject: Norlands 2015 AAR (Maine) In Recpt of
Lt. C. Logan Robertson,|
U.S.V. Signal Corps Detachment, Cmd'g
Signal Office, Washington City, District of Columbia
I have the honor to be in receipt of your report of the 31st ultimo relative to the actions occurring on June 13th & 14th in the vicinity of Bartlett's Creek southwest of the mill town of Livermore Falls, Maine.
It is a credit to General Markijohn that he was allowed the opportunity of providing you the necessary aid of detailed officers and men from his respective columns to assist with you duties.
Being the signal officer in charge, it seems apparent that you held yourself, and your parties, in readiness and proffered such services, as movements were made known to you by the general commanding, and by your keen observations and anticipation of pending actions.
It is particularly enjoined upon all officers and soldiers serving with the signal corps to ever devote as much time as possible to the study of their different duties, in order that the party may be prepared immediately for service upon reaching the field.
Your report indicates that you anticipated and then endeavored to keep up communication between the line engaged, the artillery and the reserves throughout the engagements.
As such, no opportunity seems to have been lost at any time, during the skirmish at Bartlett's Creek, and, on account of your signal party's readiness for duty, you have, no doubt, gained the distinction and favorable notice of General Markijohn, and also of this office.
I am, Sir, very respectfully, your obedient servant,
