Subject: RE: Medical Corps Signals?
Regarding medical supplies at Frederick after the battle of Antietam -- the Confederates had destroyed the railroad bridge over the Monocacy River so when the B&O RR sent medical supplies to AoP after Antietam the train loaded with them had to stop there. Letterman had to organize a medical wagon train to go from Sharpsburg to Monocacy to pick them up.|
Today the U.S. Army's commodity manager for medical supplies is the U.S. Army Medical Materiel Agency, Fort Detrick, Frederick, Maryland. As a contractor I worked there on-site in '94-'96.
