Subject: RE: Medical Corps Signals?

Message Detail:
First off, check the Official Records. Letterman's reports to higher headquarters were mainly pen-on-paper and they are there for everyone to see in the OR. The U.S. Army Center of Military History has a well-done volume covering the Civil War and around 1900 a U.S. Army Medical Department officer named Duncan published a history of the medical service during the war. To my knowledge the U.S. Army Medical Department had no unique or service-specific modes of communication during the war.
