I found the following on a genealogical website completely by accident -- it probably leads nowhere, but who knows? W.H. HEISTON, born at Luray, Page County, Virginia, and educated in schools of that city. Moved to Martinsburg in 1887; he was a millwright and engaged in erecting hydroelectric power and water wheels. Mr. Heiston erected mills in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky and has erected over 1,000 water wheels throughout Berkeley County; established the business in Martinsburg known as the W.H. Heiston Construction Company. Built and owned a mill at Smithfield, Jefferson County, West Virginia. He was connected with the Signal Corps of the Confederate Army from Richmond to the Potomac River during the Civil War.
