Subject: Re: Gen'l Myer's character

Message Detail:
This month marks four years since I began trying gather everything about General Myer and getting it to everyone with an interest. Just read J. Willard Brown's book & saw the quote, "What rest would it be to me if I left my work unfinished?" for the first time. What really stands out to me even more than Myer's accomplishments, is his character - what a work ethic. Not only that, but his patience, too. Waiting for his health to recover to join the army, the commission to take effect, LTC Lee's review board to convene, then for testing to be approved, then getting the signal corps approved by act of congress, another act to stop the borrowing, three years to be reinstated, seeking justice instead of revenge - Benedict Arnold changed sides over a lesser offense, this man's incredible. His wife, too - I added up the time they were separated. It's amazing how the family stayed together despite being separated so much. If Lee deserves a book just about his character, then so does General Myer. Bob
