Subject: RE: Readying Our Lines for 150th Series

Message Detail:
Morning Walt,
In conjunction with the State of West Virginia we have already started our planing for the 150th series. I am a member of the committee. As you know Rich Mountain was the sight where Gen. McClellan used the telegraph to send messages of "his great victory" back to the war room and Lincoln that lead directly to his promotion to commanding Army and Department of the Potomac (August 15, 1861 - November 9, 1862); and commander-in-chief, USA (November 5, 1861 - March 11, 1862). As you also know from being there the Beverly Historical Society owns and we have access to the original house and rooms that the dispatches were sent from. I would humbly summit that this would be an event that SCARD would want to be involved in as there are few places that you can sit in the very room and send the same messages that were sent that changed the course of history. The exposure and PR are obvious. There are other events and places in the State that we have access to that also have the original telegraph stations.
Tim
