![]() Subject: RE: Signal Instruction For the Offering |
Tnx Jerry, Thanks for catching up with me again following our un-tether'd adventure. Should the signallists of yore have had such aeronautics and hand-held GPS devices to guide their way, most of us could never have afforded to acquire the necessary equipments to emulate the communicators of the 1860's. Speaking of such though, I was on River Road last night near the Edward's Ferry crossing on the Maryland side of the Potomac River when I came across one of those iron roadside historical markers. It said that in early 1862 Thaddeus Lowe was making gas balloon ascensions there and also went aloft across the river at Balls Bluff, Virginia. I don't think I actually have enough funding (yet) to secure the services of an observation balloon. When it happens, retired US Army Major Kevin Knapp will be climbing into the basket as T.S.C. Lowe. Kevin flies hot air balloons for the Mayflower Moving and Storage Company all across America. Hey! Somebody has to do it. ;) Tnx agn for signalling this office. I'll contact you on the sidewire line. Walt |
