Subject: RE: Another Passing Wave of the Star'd 'Battle-Flag'

Message Detail:
No sweat--no offence taken. Point remains as I stated: having two-code early war, or having no instances of brave SigO waving a battle flag is about as realistic as those old JC Penny gray cotton work pants. We can't be nit-pickers in some respects and ignore the facts in others. Picking up on your "site-sensitive" terminology may be the key. If an event is "site-sensitive"--and esp. if it is being filmed--it needs to be authentic for sig c as much as inf. (You know how we all jumped on the Audie Murphy "Red Badge of Courage" for the crossed rifles cap insig, vice hunting horn, or noted the absence of battle honors on the flags in "Gettysburg.") Perhaps to save expense, a battle flag might become property of a unit, rather than having indiv have to bear the cost. Having SigO call out the numbers wld not req sig man to know the code, just to be able to wave as req'd. Simply a point to mull over...and save for SigComms 301.
