Subject: RE: Signal Star'd 'Battle-Flag'

Message Detail:
After the impractical nature of the idea of inscribing battles on the sig officer's Battle Flag was realized--longer war than expected?--order was to return such flags to Washington, but use star-only flag. Since, with a little research, we can determine the Union sig officer present in a certain engagement, and whether he was entitled to a Battle Flag, wouldn't it be nice to have occasional use of the star flag in such reenactments? It would be consistent with the idea of commemorating brave individuals, and answers or explanations to others would further the goal of education. Just a thought. Has anyone used--or seen--this?
