Subject: Signal Star'd 'Battle-Flag'

Message Detail:
Chip,

While no mention has ever been made (that we know of) of other than four foot variants of the signal battle flag (either in stand-alone documentation or with SCARD archive documentation of extant battle-flags), this doesn't rule out the possibility of other sizes existing. We say this since the various orders allowing for the battle-flags does not specify any given dimensions.

Within the list we have been presented, there are listed colours of red, white and black issues, both in silk and the more prevalent cotton.

The flag sizes range as follows:
44"X44"
48"X48"
48"X50"
50"50"
... with 48"X48" being the norm.

Unless I have been mistaken, the compiler of this list has asked that it not be given out freely because a few of the information providers have asked it as a condition of terms. Currently, we don't know who the individual information donors are or we could publish the rest of the list. This compiler does, however, frequent this forum, so should this wretched (but honour'd) condition change, we will be more than happy to offer it up to the world at the SCA/SCARD web site.

Hope this helps answer a few questions.
Walt
