Subject: RE: SC Museum Papers MAY Reveal Much Needed Clues For To-day's Emulators

Message Detail:
I think it is hard to look at Myer's stuff and NOT consider him praise worthy. He was victim of a political policy that tried to rein in his ideas and fit them into a pre-supposed ideal by the old military establishment. His ideas were stymied by bureaucratic squabbling and infighting. Alexander was lucky to have a political and military system around him that actively sought out new ideas and quickly employed them. Perhaps we should think of ways to streamline our efforts rather than stamp out innovation and bury them under a pile of bureaucratic paperwork. I would be interested to learn how others may feel about Myers political struggles and why the Confederacy was more open minded to the signal system than the Federals.
