Message Detail:
PRETTY GOOD CHOICE OF WORDS, EH?, AND FUNNY. I THINK THE REAL BASKET CASES WOULD HAVE BEEN GEN. FITZ-JOHN PORTER OF THE UNION ARMY AND CAPTAIN JOHN RANDOLPH ("BALLOON BRYAN) BRYAN , CSA. BOTH WERE ADRIFT IN THEIR RESPECTIVE BALLOONS, BEING SHOT AT BY THE OTHER SIDE AND MADE VERY UNCEROMONIOUS DESCENTS TO MOTHER EARTH. FORTUNATELY FOR BOTH THE WINDS WERE KIND TO THEM BLOWING THEM BACK TO THEIR OWN LINES AND IN BRYAN'S CASE NOT INTO THE JAMES RIVER WHILE HE WAS DISROBING FOR A POSSIBLE SWIM THAT DAY. BOTH SERIOUS SITUATIONS BUT QUITE FUNNY TO READ THE DESCRIPTIONS OF THE EPISODES OF EACH. BALLOON BRYAN'S CAREER IN BALLOONING WAS VERY SHORT LIKE THE GENERAL FITZ-JOHN PORTER.
