Subject: RE: Welcome Chris Anders
I will say we did not have signal folks present as I have not personally worked with some, and the event regulations were more strict than most events, and one hates to invite folks blind.
Chris, unless the event regulations do not allow flags, leather bound books and sharp pencils. Areial Telegraphy for communications can be added to the event without a problem, (unless the folks are blind- PUN)
Wired Telegraph systems are really no problem, once you actually see them in action- they really add alot. although for some reason the excuse is always restrictions and safety- Kind of funny when your talking about a 12-volt battery and wire high in the trees compared to the amout of Black Powder laying around camps and going off in every direction don't you think?
I shake my head every time i see the cigar smoking sergeant inspecting arms.
Perhaps, in the future The US Signal Corps, Department of New York as well as CSA Signals, York Detachment from our neck of the woods could attend a chp event- if given the chance to prove the worth of authentic communications in "modern reenactments"- what ever that means---
