Subject: RE: Signal Corps Reenactor Uniform/Equipment Recommendations (Round One!)

I'll jump in.

Basically, think of it this way. If it's your guys coming over from the artillery, they should wear what they already have and what is required of them.

why? Well, that's the way it was. If I'm in the 18th Indiana, and we wear kepi's and I'm off to signal school, I'm not changing my uniform. I wear what I have. Once I'm out of signal school, I STILL wear what I have...i.e., what has been assigned to me to wear.

I'm foggy on this. Dave Gaddy or Walt would have a better idea. If I DO NOT return to my unit after signal school, I'm obviously re-assigned to some other unit. I fall under someone else's command and more than likely will wear what is SOP for THAT unit if that commanding officer is that much of a stickler.

Now, that's by the book.

Here's what I recommend. If your guys are coming from your artillery unit, keep the same requirements. Flows better for the impression that they went to signal school and have returned to their unit (early war impression).

Also, many folks would love this because they don't have to go out and spend more money for something else.

Ted
