 Yet another more simplified view of our June 11-12 play ground sand box at Saint Elizabeths Hosptial and outlying points. Please note that the two green areas shown at the bottom centre and left are our Anacostia Ridge locations. The Washington Navy Yard is just across the River and upsteam of the proposed Southeast Federal Center and Waterfront Park beyond the diagonal piers. The National Mall is seen above and to the left, while Arlington House is just beyond the Washington Monument and off of the screen. The sort of star-war's wing'd-like structure in the lower left green area is the 1855 Center Building ad war-time signal tower which Dorothea Dix was involved with constructing and managing the facility. Professor Joseph Henry, of the Smithsonian was on Saint E's Board of Visitors during its first fifteen years. |
