![]() Subject: RE: First Signal Corps |
Since Myer, SigO of the [US]Army cited the CS Signal Corps in urging the creation of a US counterpart, wouldn't that be an authoritative acknowledgment that "The Confederate States Army Signal Corps was the first independent branch of professional signalmen in the military history of the world"? --David J. Marshall, in Max L. Marshall, Ed., "The Story of the U.S. Army Signal Corps," p. 63 and "The Confederates were first in the field... ." --A.W. Greely, Maj. Gen, US Army and CSO, in "Photographic History of the Civil War," Vol. 8, p. 318. and "I thought of the idea, but I didn't have any men either." [Trans. from the original Greek.] --Gen. Polybius, "Marley Creek Archives." (Look at that! And I didn't even cite any Southern boasts.) |
