Tnx so much for your reply Dave. Knowing of Lee's chairing the committee during the New York Harbour testings always gave me a bit of concern for the course he took during the war but the codes were being compromised right and left at the beginning of the war.

Like Darcy was quoted as saying in Jane Austin's "Pride and Prejudice", "A good opinion, once lost is lost forever", I hope Lee had second thoughts even if after the war and I'm glad his generals had such during.
