![]() Subject: Washington City Signal Sta Change |
![]() Sorry to inform you but the Secret Service has place the US Captiol Building off-limits for use as a signal station during the June 11th and 12th event in Wasington DC, due to the recent small aeroplane incursion into restricted air space. National Park Service (NPS) officals are now negotiating with the Smithsonian to use the highest tower in the Castle Building (see image), and also the US Navy Yard property as it butts up to the Anacostia River and can be seen from Anacostia Ridge's "Point" Station. The Virginia station site location across the Potomac at Arlington House, and very near to Fort Myer, is secured according to NPS officials. We have been inform'd that Kim Holien, post historian at For Myer, will be speaking during our event. If conditions conspire to allow your attendance, please do consider coming even at the last minute. Remember, your on-site lodging is assured and we'll try to have an ample supply of food for last-minute arrivals. The Metro subway is but a few hundred feet from the gated event site and is accessable from either Union Station or National Airport, should you choose to take advantage of low-air-fares of arrive by train for the weekend. If possible, please plan to arrive on Friday from mid-day on. Tnx, |
