Subject: Pole Talk

Message Detail:
My wife is making some Field Hospital / Ambulance flags (she occasionally portrays a Nurse), and we have the most vague of information concerning the poles: 14 feet in length, in two sections. Other niggling little details such as the diamter of the pole, whether a consistent diameter or tapered, round or hexagonal or octagonal - that's not mentioned. But I think I know where I can find that information for those flags.

Here's my question for this forum:

What were the lengths of the poles supposed to be for each Signal Flag size: the 6' square, the 4' square, and the 2' square?

What was the wood of preference for those poles?

Were they round, hexagonal, or octagonal?

What were their respective diameters?

Were they all to be tapered?

Were they all to be two sections?

Thanks!

Chuck Lee
