Subject: RE: Bermuda Hundred Map

Message Detail:
David,

I have the OR map - which is the best I have found so far - but the specs on it are not detailed enough to match points well with narratives written after that particular map was made.

Longacre's book is a general work about the whole Army of the James (much needed) but is the most useless of the collection I have so far as far as my own work goes. "Most useful" does happen to be a book by Chris Calkins - I admire his writing a great deal. I haven't managed to find a way to contact him directly, though. I have not read "Richmond Redeemed. Thanks for the tip.

Schiller's and Robertson's books about the Bermuda Hundred Campaign are both great for various reasons and have great map's of Drewry's Bluff, Port Walthall, etc. but neither has a detailed map of the BH fortifications themselves.

I just keep hoping that there is a stash of engineer/artillery maps somewhere.

Thanks,

Wayne
