Message Detail:
That was my impression. And Libby Prison was not a pleasant prospect. But he broke the vital link with the Harpers Ferry garrison at a critical time, isolating them from "hang on, help's a-coming" msgs. As to the 30 yrs later--memory plays tricks with most of us. Sometimes it actually seems to improve with age, and the sorting out of details, etc., esp. if letters home, diary or journal, or the like, exist as "memory joggers." I've noticed how a picture, a note, that wld be incomprensible to another, can bring a recollection flooding back, whereas, otherwise, incidents are totally forgotten. Well, enuff of this--get back to work!
