Message Detail:
Thanks, Chip--good reply, good thinking. Relatively few of these temporary wartime sites so important to us left signs saying "here was... " (For example, the very important CS "site" on Clark's Mt in VA is described by one US source as comprising four separated sites, which makes sense, for one sig sta couldn't "see" all subscribers.) Since line-of-sight was the governing factor, I have to remind myself that often as not the station(s)one side needed to contact were not necessarily in the same location as the opposing forces had been, and that affected siting of the "replacement" sig sta. Still, we do have some accounts of one taking over the former site of the other.
I plan to be away until after the New Year, and I'll try to check into my info for the area in question.
