Subject: Early Parachute Drawing - Closed

Message Detail:

According to the 1897 Encyclopaedia Britannica, the first parachute was that devised by André Garnerin, in 1797. Notice in this drawing that the parachute is contracted and is being carried up into the air by a balloon.

On a related note, has anyone researched parachute designs for the various signal rockets of such notables as Messrs, Lilliandahl, Detwiller, Edge and others?

Anyone sometimes near the US Patent Office want to take a crack at this one? ?

Enjoy!
Walt
