Subject: GETTYSBURG!

Message Detail:
Wanted to make certain ALCON know about the site at which Bill Cameron has posted his ground-breaking guide to the Federal Signal Corps in the battle of Gettysburg. Based on his own experience with the staff ride concept while attending the Army War College at Carlisle, Bill originated the concept of a "ride" aimed at a modern company-grade sig officer, so that he/she could see how their tech-field "ancestors" tackled problems still faced by modern sig officer, and, of course, to tie in the mystique of G'bg, which still attracts us all. He has a good intro and even an appendix on the equipment involved (citing Myer's 1866 Manual, Ken!) Also a rare appreciation of the contribution of the sig corps to battlefield intel.
Give a look at http://www.gdg.org/signidx.html. (This also relates to a two-part article on the subj Bill had in "Gettysburg" magazine, from Morningside.)
