Eric, I just checked "Bibliofind!" (Amazon.com service) and they have a copy for $22.50. I second Pete's comment about the frustration of trying to use (as opposed to simply read and enjoy) the book. Hard to tell what is factual from what is, shall we say, impressionistic; hard to know how thorough the author's research and where he found his info in case you want to check or extend his research. As an example, near and dear to my interest, Brown did not pick up on the fact that Stringfellow was commissioned a 2nd LT in the CS Sig Corps--late in the war, admittedly, but significant, for it raises the question of why--what the commission represented. Was it simply to give him modest status and legitimacy for exchange if captured? Or did it relate to the "backroom" underground network of the Signal Bureau?
