Subject: Ft Monroe - Signal Corps Birthday Celebration, More Concerning
As you have so perfectly stated this:
"isn't the real birthday of the [US Army Signal Corps] organization, but of the official appointment of Myer as "The Signal Officer of the Army."--I think it's just a way of avoiding recognition that the Confeds "got there first.")
In fact, The Confederates were the first to employ aerial telegraphy on the field of battle (First Manasas 1861)and to also to create a permanent organization of field communicators by an act of Congress early in 1862. The US Army Signal Corps followed suite a a year later.
Don't you think it ironic that the modern history 'makers' of the US Army signal corps choose to completely ignore that which the US Veteran Signal Corps Association readily admits in their own signal history?
