Greetings:
As part of my new history of the 1st Penna. Cav. I've complied a more accurate and detailed unit roster than is found in Bates and other sources.

Henry Tobias was a 21-year-old carpenter when he was mustered in to Company D on 11 August 1861. At that point the company was recruiting in Lock Haven, so it's likely he was in Clinton County at the time. He was with his company through 1863, including the Gettysburg Campaign, but was at the dismounted depot at Giesboro Point, DC, in spring 1864, in general hospital, Washington, summer 1864, and mustered out 9 September 1864.

On Ancestry.com you might be able to find him in the 1850 and 1860 Censuses.

Regards,
Andrew German
