From David Cheever:

A dear friend of Maine, and the Maine State Archives, Nicholas Picerno, will be at the Archives on July 22, 2013, at 4 p.m. to speak about "The 10th Maine at Antietam, a terrible and bloody contest."

Nick is chairman emeritus of the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation in New Market, Virginia. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond, Virginia, and the Lee-Jackson Education Foundation of Charlottesville, Va., and he is Vice- President of the Lincoln Society of Virginia.

The U.S. Secretary of the Interior appointed Nick to the National Advisory Board of the Cedar Creek- Belle Grove National Park.

Nick is currently working on a book titled, "Merit is Better Than Fame", a history of the 1st-10th-29th Maine Regiments during the Civil War.

A career police chief, he is Chief of Police at Bridgewater College, in Bridgewater, Virginia.

A formal press release will be issued shortly.
