Subject: RE: James A. Eddy |
| Since the Civil War took place before Canada's Confederation, everyone living in Canada(British North America) was a British subject. After confederation a few years later,(1867 I believe), these inhabitants became Canadians with the formation of Canada. Canada continues to be part of the Monarchy,(along with Australia and Wales), but it's citizens are no longer British subjects, but Canadians. |
