Subject: Dennis Buckley, 136th NY Infantry

Message Detail:
Civil War Medal of Honor recipient Dennis Buckley has been buried under the wrong name "BURKLEY" for over 140 years, at the Marrietta National Cemeterey in Marrietta Georgia.

On National Medal of Honor Day, March 25th, the fruits of the work of many American historians and others will be unveiled with a new stone with the correct spelling and also the notation that Buckley was a MOH recipient.

Buckley was born in Canada in 1844, and I and all Canadians share your American pride in his bravery and thank our American friends for finally correcting this stone.

If any reader lives in the area, or has contacts there, I would love to get some digital pictures of the ceremony.

thanks,

Bart Armstrong CD
