Thanks to my distant cousin Blanche Tibbetts Carter, author of " Tibbetts Talk " I have only recently found out that my Great Great Grandfather, Alanson Blackden, served in The Maine Heavy Artillery and was wounded in the battle of Spotsylvania. I would be interested in meeting any other decendants of Alanson. Lloyd R. Danforth

I am researching my ancestor who served in the 1st Maine Heavy Artillery, Avandah Smith. He served in Co. F and enlisted from Carmel, Maine in July 1862. Following the war, he lived Minneapolis and lived at the Minneapolis Soldiers Home before he died. He is buried in St., Mary's Cemetery in Minneapolis. He was afriend of Peleg Bradford of Carmel who had a book written about his letters. Avandah died January 1, 1914. I am interested in any other infromation on Avandah that you may have. Thanks!

My grandmother was a descendant of Charles H. Dill, company A, Maine 1st Heavy artillery. He was wounded in the "charge of the 900." Although previously unknown, it now appears that joined up with two brothers, Andrew J. Dill and George W. Dill.
