Marriage information on John and Laura came from the Maryland Genealogical Society Bulletin, Vol. 32, No. 4, Fall 1991... this information came from the Woodcock Bible. Source: Four folio pages of Family Records, probably detached from a Family Bible, found in an antique slant top desk (ca. early 1800s). The desk was owned by Mrs. Isabella Staub Kerns of Baltimore, Maryland. It is possible that the source material is in the archives at the Maryland Historical Society.
Text of Marriage notice in the Baltimore Sun on 19 July 1860 (page 2):
On the 28th ultimo [sic] by Reverend J.H. Dashiel, John M. Emmart to LAURA, youngest daughter of William Woodcock, Esq., all of this city."
John's death date and burial location is an assumption at this time (September 1999) -- there is a John Emmart buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, d. 24 April 1884... this would seem to fit, since when John and Laura's daughter, Irene, was baptized in 1888, only Laura's name was listed as a parent, which would indicate that John died before that date.
