Born in Norway in 1893, Benhard N. Standal immigrated to the United States leaving eleven brothers and sisters there. He worked as a self-employed concrete contractor and was a resident of Spokane for 36 years. His last address there was E2128 Sixth Avenue.
Mr. Standal married Clara Lee who was a native of the Mount Hope area. Her parents were Frank Lee and Rose Woodcock Lee. Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Hiram Wright, and Mrs. Frazelle, all early day residents of Mount Hope, were sisters who were originally from Kentucky. The Lee family lived on what is currently known as the W. N. Pullin place. Benhard and Clara Standal had no children.
Mr. Standal served in the United States Army during World War I and was a member of several veteran's organizations including the Monaghan Post No. 51 Veterans of Foreign Wars and World War I Veterans Post No. 87. [Matter.FTW][Sumstad.FTW]
