Meador, Victor Paul, Meadors of Virginia and Points West, 3 vols. 1989,
Anna Meador was born in Franklin County, Virginia on the Indian Run plantation of her parents, Joel and Susannah Meador. She was nearly 17 years of age when she married Thomas Simmons, son of George and Elizabeth Simmons, in 1785.
On June 21, 1792 (Fr. Co. D.B. 2, p. 319) they purchased 95 1/2 acres on Linville Creek from Charles Simmons the brother of Thomas. This was the property upon which they lived until they followed the general migration of most of the other children of Joel Meador to Smith County, Tenn. The property was sold Oct. 3, 1807 (D.B. 5, p. 407).
In Smith County they bought 143 acres on the East Side of Long Creek (Smith Co. D.B. "C", p. 281) for $700 on 18th May 1809. Charles Simmons signed as a witness.
