Jeff presented himself as a house-warming gift to his parents,
arriving just two days after they had moved into their new home at 23
Richmond Place South. He was able, during these formative years, to
supervise the interior finishing and the landscaping and acquire an
interest which he has turned into a career.
Jeff's formal education began in 1978 at Jefferson Elementary
School, Honolulu, Hawaii, in Mrs. Violet Min's kindergarten class. (Dad
was in Grad school there; Mom was on the beach.) He completed grades one
and two at Richmond Heights School before it was closed and then
attended River Heights School for the remainder of his elementary grades.
His high school of choice was Marion M. Graham Collegiate from which he
graduated in 1991. Jeff completed a Bachelor of Arts degree, Magna cum
laude, in 1994, at the University of Saskatchewan before heading to
Calgary to earn his Masters of Architecture in 1999.
Throughout his school years, Jeff was involved in both indoor and
outdoor soccer. He also rowed with the Saskatoon Rowing Club for two
seasons before focusing his time on judo (orange belt) and wrestling.
Jeff was the bronze medalist (third) in his weight class in high school
provincial wrestling in his senior year. He was a member of the
University team for three years and, as a Huskie, he won his share of
matches. Mountain hiking and camping currently attract his interest
Jeff showed an interest in drawing and writing at a very early age.
He created a character called Mooser who was involved in many wild
adventures which were detailed in hand-drawn comic books. It is
interesting to follow the progression, from comic book Mooser to water
colours of Spanish architecture done during his architecture semester
abroad. He continues to explore artistic expression; his parents always
look forward to his gifts.
Upon completion of his M.Arch., Jeff joined the Chomik Architectural
Group in Calgary where he has been establishing himself in a career which
he finds both challenging and rewarding.
Jeff and his partner, Karri, have a daughter, Erika, who has changed
the name of this writer from Grumpy to Grampy.
