Sorry to take so long to reply but your message intrigued me so that I ha d to make some research of my own. My wife's late father's name was Pickf ord and Dorothy was my wife's second cousin twice removed. My research ha s revealed 22 crossings that Dorothy shared with Mabel although there ar e some that I haven't traced yet. The first one (1926) shows that they we re on a party from Selfridge's - the big London store and I would imagin e that at that time, they were work colleagues. It would seem that thei r friendship blossomed and that they became companions. Both eventually d ied in Bournemouth in the late 1900's. Dorothy was born in South Norwood , London - an area that I lived in from 1947 to 1970. The address in Albe rt Road was her parents' address - they both died in the 1940's. Albert R oad was approx 400 yards from where I lived. Dorothy and Mabel's addres s in the 40's and 50's was in The Glade, Shirley. Coincidentally we move d to Shirley in 1970 and The Glade was again approx 400 yards from wher e we lived.
I would be interested to hear how many crossings you have found - hopeful ly it will fill in some of my gaps.
The two ladies were obviously reasonably wealthy being able to travel o n Cunard so often but I have no idea where their wealth would have come f rom - certainly not from the Gumbrill side.
Hope to hear from you soon
Jack Phillips .

Looking to find anything about Mabel Clementine Farrant b 1890 Suffolk, E ngland, in USA, she died in Bournemouth, England 1976 but as a US citizen . She left England after 1901 and her death is registered in New York fo r 1976 death in England, with a social security number.
